Ranching is a profession that outside of industrial operations, is a fading one, with fewer and fewer making a living at it. But filmmaker Andrew Renzi takes a unique look at the last of a dying breed with his art film/documentary “Fishtail,” premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Narrated and featuring songs by Harry Dean Stanton, the movie chronicles the life of two cowboys living on a 2,000-acre ranch in Montana, as they work during calving season, the month when the cows on the ranch give birth, mirroring the life-cycle of the cattle with that of the modern cowboys and their families. And you can see Renzi’s unique aesthetic approach in this exclusive trailer, one that treats the subject matter visually as something out of time, and not quite of this world. It’s pretty beautiful stuff.
“Fishtail” premieres on Thursday, April 17th at 9:45pm at Bow Tie Cinemas 8. Watch below.
