New 'Tron Legacy' Trailer Debuts Online

The latest trailer for Joseph Kosinski’s “Tron Legacy” has been discovered through one of the film’s handful of viral sites and unveils many of the film’s never-before-seen characters whilst still staying pretty low-key in terms of plot.

Garrett Hedlund shows ‘Captain America’ producers what they’re missing out on as protagonist Sam Flynn; Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett strut their stuff as confidantes of the opposing forces; Michael Sheen does his best David Bowie meets Alex DeLarge; a fresh-faced John Hurt lead his troops into battle while, fresh off his Oscar triumph, Jeff Bridges returns as the long-lost Kevin Flynn.

The visual effects shown through several cuts of the “Tron” world action scenes are impressive as you’d expect, as is what we presume is part of the Daft Punk score for the film (Kosinski has confirmed that it is Daft Punk though it’s a custom track made specifically for the trailer). It definitely looks like it could be a fun ride and if any movie was ever born for 3D, this is it. In addition, IMAX audiences will be treated to five extended sequences in the larger than life format. This film will definitely burn out your retinas. That said, it does look like a particularly beguiling piece of slick pop entertainment, even though it does seem kind of like a Lady Gaga video.

“Tron Legacy” hits theaters December 17th.
