'True Detective,' 'Breaking Bad,' 'The Normal Heart' Lead 2014 Emmy Nominations

2014 Emmy NominationsAfter months away from awards, we’re feeling so much better. That wheezing cough has finally disappeared, our complexions are no longer grey, and that weird scaly rash has disappeared. Let’s hope it lasts: the movie awards season is fast approaching, but first up are the Emmys, the biggest celebration of TV in the calendar, which announced their nominations for the 2014 batch this morning.

We made our predictions a couple of days ago, but Mindy Kaling and Carson Daly just revealed the nominees, and… well, you can see for yourself below. The major nominees are down there, or click over to the Emmys site to find out some of the below the line ones like Best Cinematography for A Reality Show. Short story: same ol’ same ol’, with strong showings from "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad," "Game Of Thrones," "Modern Family," "The Big Bang Theory" et al. But some newcomers did especially well too, with "Fargo," "True Detective" and "Orange Is The New Black" all racking up multiple nominations. Full analysis is coming later in the day, and you can find out the winners when they’re announced on Monday, August 25th. And you can read our favorite TV shows of the season just gone right here.
