James Cameron Bringing 'True Lies' To TV

The Ridley Scott-ing of James Cameron‘s careers continues to push forward, with no end in sight. With the filmmaker already working on his multiple sequels to “Avatar,” and getting ready to reboot the “Terminator” series, now he’s plucking another title from this catalog and bringing to TV. Guess you gotta pay for those pea protein factories somehow.

The director’s Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV are teaming up to develop a TV series based on Cameron’s 1994 blockbuster “True Lies.” The film, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis and hasn’t aged well at all, tells the story of an ordinary married man, who’s actually a spy for  a secret government agency, with his wife all the while believing he’s just boring computer salesman. In the movie, this leads eventually to the wife attempting to have an affair, getting caught, and the husband manipulating her into performing a striptease. The Guardian does a pretty good job at breaking down how gross it is, and presumably the TV show will leave that bit out.

McG (“Charlie’s Angels,” “Terminator Salvation“) will direct the pilot, so keep your expectations at their required height, and he’ll be co-writing the script with “Arrow” co-creator Marc Guggenheim.
