Television has not been immune to reboots and remakes, even if it’s the supposed "golden era" of the medium. That being said, as "Fargo" has proved, reviving a movie concept for the small screen can be a success, and streaming site Crackle is hoping to follow in those footsteps.

The service has announced they’ve ordered a 10-episode, one-hour show based on Guy Ritchie‘s crime flick "Snatch." The network has said that like Noah Hawley‘s redo of the Coen Brothers movie, it’ll be informed by the spirit of the show, but will create “a new world” for the story that will follow a bunch of hustlers and hoods in London who embark on a gold heist. As for who is writing, directing or showrunning the series, there’s no word on that just yet, nor if Ritchie himself will be involved (or, like the Coens, just take an executive-producer credit).
It’s certainly some great material to work with, and undoubtedly a colorful cast of characters, but "Snatch" is also rooted in a particular post-Tarantino place and time in cinema. Making it feel fresh again might be the biggest challenge of all in bringing "Snatch" to TV. [Variety]
