Well, that was fast. The ballots haven’t even been sent out, the movie isn’t yet in theaters, but it speaks to the awards season buzz and general good feelings that Oscar contender "Brooklyn" has earned since Sundance that there is already talk about the life of the movie after it hits the big screen.
Showbiz 411 hit the red carpet premiere of the Saoirse Ronan starring film and came away with a rather interesting little nugget: a "Brooklyn" TV show is in the works. Director John Crowley confirmed the news saying, “there’s a plan in the pipeline” but cautioned it’s still early days, and there’s no talent attached yet. “We’re trying to get this out in the field first. It’s a great idea and everybody is intrigued by it,” he said.

And certainly, a series based on the immigrant experience in New York City through the eyes of a young Irish woman is a solid premise, particularly if the potential show can gain some of the heavyweight talent of the movie, such as author Colm Toibin, screenwriter Nick Hornby, or even Crowley himself. Something to certainly keep an eye on for now.
