Tom Holland is on top of the world right now. Last weekend, his most recent superhero film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” not only broke seemingly every pandemic-era box office record, but the film went on to have the second biggest worldwide opening weekend of all time, behind only “Avengers: Endgame.” And it would appear that ‘No Way Home’ is going to be the first film to break the $1 billion mark since 2019. So, if you’re Sony and you’re reveling in the success of ‘Spider-Man,’ what do you do next? Well, naturally, you release a trailer for Holland’s next film, “Uncharted.”

As seen in the trailer for “Uncharted,” Tom Holland has turned in his Spidey duds for some adventuring gear as a young Nathan Drake. The film is based on the video game franchise of the same name and features Holland’s Drake, who is like a younger, more handsome Indiana Jones-esque adventurer who teams up with Mark Wahlberg for some globe-hopping action.
“Uncharted” is infamous in the world of Hollywood due to its incredibly chaotic development process over the last decade or so, with stars coming and going (Wahlberg, early on, was in line to play Nathan Drank, in fact) and filmmakers seemingly being signed and almost immediately leaving. Then once things settled with Holland in the lead role and “Venom” director Ruben Fleischer behind the camera, the film was subject to all sorts of delays, some pandemic related, some not.
Regardless of the long, winding road “Uncharted” has taken to arrive in theaters, it does appear the film is actually getting a proper theatrical release. And it won’t be too long for Tom Holland’s fans to wait to see it, as “Uncharted” will arrive on February 18, 2022.
