'Very Good Girls' Starring Elizabeth Olsen & Dakota Fanning Back On, Anton Yelchin Set To Join

nullIt's somewhat hard to imagine considering how far she's come but it was only this time last year one Elizabeth Olsen was introduced to movie-goers with her Sundance double of "Martha Marcy May Marlene" and the upcoming horror remake "Silent House." During her year, the actress has managed to fit in projects like Rodrigo Cortes' "Red Lights" and Josh Radnor's "Liberal Arts" (both of which have already been hot topics at Park City this year) but through it all mentioned that one project she attached herself to soon post-Sundance, Naomi Foner's "Very Good Girls," was struggling to find its feet.

Deadline, however, are now reporting that not only has the project found the required backing and is eyeing a summer shoot but that fellow rising star Anton Yelchin is also set to join the project as the object of the two leads' affection. Like Olsen, Yelchin had a similarly exceptional Sundance last year, earning much acclaim for his role in Drake Doremus' "Like Crazy," while Fanning has been living a little in her sister's shadow of late but has starring roles coming up in Ol Parker's "Now Is Good," the Emma Thompson-scripted "Effie" and "The Motel Life" with Stephen Dorff and Emile Hirsch.

"Very Good Girls" follows the story of lifelong best friends in the summer after their high school graduation, both determined to lose their virginity as a rite of passage into the adult world. When they fall in love with the same boy (Yelchin), their quest becomes much more complicated and emotionally dangerous than they ever imagined. They come out of the summer more women than girls, but in ways that they never imagined.

"A lot of times with female relationships and young women [in the movies], it's either 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' or catty b—," Olsen previously explained. "I just have a problem with that. They're supposed to be either as perfect as how they're portrayed on Disney or as mean as they're portrayed in high school movies. And in real life it's neither of those."

No word this time round on names previously linked to the supporting roles including Peter Saarsgard, Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek. Considering Foner is the mother of Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, though, we're sure Saarsgard would be more than happy to oblige but Deadline's lack of mention for Hoffman and Spacek has us a little worried. With the three exciting, aforementioned up-and-comers set to star as the three leads, the project is definitely one we'll keep an eye on.
