Ah yes, just in time for Halloween, some Jack Skellington-related news. In tribute to the much beloved Halloween classic “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” a group of indie rock/goth acts have put together a batch of covers of songs from the movie. Great news for anyone who loves Halloween and/or music (which it probably everybody).
Titled “Nightmare Revisited,” the disc features takes on the soundtrack from the likes of DeVotchKa, Sparklehorse, Polyphonic Spree and the Album Leaf, amongst others (Korn? Really?). You can zip on over to Stereogum to check out some selections from the record. Spin a few of these while you put the finishing touches on that Joker costume and get ready for a night of trick-or-treating/wreaking havoc on the innocent, or however you choose to celebrate Devil’s Night and just fuck shit up.
