“Vikings” is a show that I hear is really good and has been recommended by a lot of people, but has never been anything I’ve been tempted to watch. Well, apparently, I’m in the minority, as the historical action drama is popular enough that Netflix has decided to finance a sequel series, “Vikings: Valhalla.”

As the teaser shows, “Vikings: Valhalla” is set more than 100 years after the original series and follows the journey of legendary explorer Leif Eriksson as the clash between the Vikings and the English Royals comes to a head. And yes, the trailer shows lots of beards, lots of yelling, and lots of charging towards enemies. So, it’s definitely a “Vikings” series.
The new series stars Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter, Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Caroline Henderson, Laura Berlin, David Oakes, Louis Davison, Bosco Hogan, Asbjørn Krogh Nissen, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Soren Pilmark. ‘Valhalla’ is obviously a spinoff of the series, “Vikings,” which has been a consistent streaming hit for Netflix. This sequel is showrun by Jeb Stuart.
“Vikings: Valhalla” debuts on Netflix on February 25. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, VIKINGS: VALHALLA chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). As tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point and as the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs, these three Vikings begin an epic journey that will take them across oceans and through battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.
