Earlier this week, Dwayne Johnson briefly reverted back to his The Rock persona with a Facebook post that quickly went viral. The usually cheery, high-fiving-everybody actor was decidedly pissed off, calling out unnamed male co-stars on the set of “Fast 8” for being unprofessional and “candy asses.” What would make the normally-grinning-a-mile-wide actor so upset, the internet wondered? And the mostly baseless theory tossed around was that it was Scott Eastwood who ticked him off, but there was no real reason for that supposition other than Scott Eastwood seems like the kind of guy who would make Dwayne Johnson mad. But alas, there is a twist!

Apparently it was franchise star Vin Diesel who turned out to be the instigator in all of this. Both Diesel and Johnson are producers on the movie, and according to TMZ (yeah, we know) The Rock was apparently peeved when Vin made some decisions he didn’t agree with, and the pair “butted heads.” And tensions ran so high that production on “Fast 8” pretty much stalled, so the pair had a meeting yesterday to try and smooth things over so the final week or so remaining on the movie could be finished.
Meanwhile, E! News (again, we know) adds that the entire shoot has been somewhat intense, and that all the bros “need some space” at the moment.
Frankly, I’m surprised it’s taken eight movies for something like this to happen given all the egos and testosterone that’s likely involved in making these things. “Fast 8” opens on April 14, 2017, and unless Diesel and Johnson make amends publicly soon, it’s going to be the most interesting press tour for a movie in quite some time.
