It wouldn’t be an awards season without at least one quality Natalie Portman performance, right? After receiving some strong reviews coming out of the Venice Film Festival earlier this year, “Vox Lux” looks to be the film that enters the actress firmly into awards consideration.
In the latest trailer for the film, we finally get a chance to really see what Portman and writer-director Brady Corbet have up their sleeves for their upcoming musical drama. Before now, the trailers have only teased the plot, but this final trailer dives headfirst into the story, which follows a young girl’s rise to superstardom after a tragic event in her life.
The other major part of this trailer that is sure to draw attention is the inclusion of one of the songs from the film written by pop star Sia. As with the other major musical drama this year, “A Star is Born,” “Vox Lux” features a slew of new music that will no doubt get stuck in your head for days after.

“Vox Lux” arrives in theaters December 7.
Here’s the synopsis:
VOX LUX begins in 1999 when teenage sisters Celeste (Raffey Cassidy) and Eleanor (Stacy Martin) survive a seismic, violent tragedy. The sisters compose and perform a song about their experience, making something lovely and cathartic out of catastrophe — while also catapulting Celeste to stardom. By 2017, the now 31-year-old Celeste (Natalie Portman) is mother to a teenage daughter of her own and struggling to navigate a career fraught with scandals when another act of terrifying violence demands her attention.
