Warner Bros. Adds Two More DC Films To Their Slate, Pushes Back 'Jungle Book: Origins' A Full Year

Wonder WomanLast summer, with great fanfare, Warner Bros. announced their ambitious DC Films slate, which included a total of 10 films through 2020. Earlier today, though, reports surfaced suggesting that following the disappointing critical reception to "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" and its quickly fading box-office prospects, the studio was going to put an even greater focus on their branded material, even if it meant releasing fewer movies overall. And well, the proof is in the pudding.

The studio has announced two more, untitled DC Films to their slate, set to be released on Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019. What they are is anybody’s guess, but the studio is already rumored to be getting a "Suicide Squad‘ sequel into motion, so that’s likely one of them. I’d also bet they are currently embarking on a serious arm-twisting campaign to convince Ben Affleck to direct that solo Batman movie. But it does set up a template that sees the studio releasing two superhero movies every year, with three in 2018 and 2019.

Meanwhile, the studio has moved "Wonder Woman" up to to June 2, 2017, getting it out of the way of "Transformers 5." It will now open against "Bad Boys 3." The live action/CGI "Jungle Book: Origins" has been pushed back a full year to October 19, 2018, though director Andy Serkis doesn’t seemed bothered by that one bit (see below). The studio has also booked an "event film" for October 6, 2017, but no word on what that is just yet.
