What started as a modest run of unauthorized, fan-only efforts from producer Adi Shankar, last week turned into slickly produced, decently budgeted pictures with professional visual effects in "Power/Rangers." In fact, it was so good that the rights owners at Saban temporarily managed to get the movie yanked off both Vimeo and YouTube. It has since been restored, but now features a big legal disclaimer before the short starts. And this week Shankar is back with "James Bond: In Service Of Nothing" and we’ll see if he rattles any more hornets’ nests.
Certainly, the Broccoli family who have long shepherded 007 won’t be put off by the production values of ‘Service of Nothing’ — it’s not great, presented entirely as a pre-visualization storyboard. That said, it does use the voice likeness of Sean Connery which might piss off his lawyers. And oh yeah, as for the movie, it finds an aging Bond out of step with the contemporary world around him, as he laments the loss of the "personal touch" in the espionage game. Check it out below.
