Seeing as how both their solo movies (“The Last Stand,” “Bullet to the Head”) fizzled at the box office earlier this year, it’s only natural that Stallone and Schwarzenegger would try to team up for an action movie. They’ve done just that in the upcoming “Escape Plan” and it’s the action pairing we always wanted… 25 years ago. Even so, maybe putting them together when they’re pushing 70 could actually be fun? It can be our generation’s “Grumpy Old Men,” but set in prison and with much more violence. How fitting. Still, the question remains, can a Stallone-Schwarzenegger pairing be enough to get the audiences’ butts in the seats or will they only find success in the action hero ensemble ‘Expendables‘ franchise? Perhaps a few more clips from “Escape Plan” can help people decide.
Along with Stallone and Schwarzenegger, the movie stars Jim Caviezel, Vinnie Jones, 50 Cent, Amy Ryan, Sam Neill, and Vincent D’Onofrio. Stallone plays security expert, Ray Breslin, who designs inescapable high-tech prisons for a living, until one day, he finds himself locked up in one. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Emil Rottmayer (yes, that’s really his name) who aids Breslin in his attempt to escape. The two clips from the movie find Stallone and Schwarzenegger in similar situations. Each trapped in separate rooms, Jim Caviezel’s character walks into each of them, taunting one and demanding answers from the other. Who gets taunted? Who is the one he’s demanding answers from?
You can find out in the clips below, along with B-roll footage and tons of new pics. “Escape Plan” comes out October 18th.
