The Lone Ranger, Armie HammerIf you’re wondering how to celebrate your 4th of July weekend both patriotically and cinematically, “The Lone Ranger” should fit the bill. The patriotism comes from its source material, the TV show with an American hero that still remains an icon years after he rode into the sunset and the big screen spectacle is due thanks to Gore Verbinski, who throws every dollar he got into the movie. The bit you’ll about to see is a bit spoilery, showing the final moment of the massive train sequence which opens the movie, so perhaps you’ll want to skip that one. Meanwhile, we get a more serious moment when our hero John Reid, still mourning the death of his brother Dan Reid, is first given the trademark mask by his future sidekick Tonto. FEELINGS. Stoked? Not stoked? Let us know and catch the movie when it drops on July 3rd.
