There is only one reason why anybody goes to see “Transformers” films: explosions. Or for the more nerdy, the chance to see whichever [insert toy] come to life thanks to the wonders of CGI. And while that simple incentive has pushed the franchise into billion dollar territory, it’s easy to forget how utterly, terribly and horribly unfunny the comedic sequences can be. Well, one clip is here from “Transformers: Age Of Extinction” to remind you of that, with another taking things in a more serious direction.
So yeah, about that comedy part, on the one hand this scene has T.J. Miller, who is pretty much awesome in everything. On the other, everything else about the sequence is pretty painful, and as far as first impressions go, Nicola Peltz has a long way to go (and man, Bay sure does love his short shorts and butt shots). But, when things get real, Bay looks to have a firmer hand, with Kelsey Grammer bringing the right gravitas to the proceedings. Meanwhile, an Imagine Dragons featurette is here (bleh) along with more small screen advertising.
“Transformers: Age Of Extinction” arrives on June 27th.
