If there is one thing Peter Jackson has guaranteed with his filmmaking over the past decade or so, it’s that his movies will make you sit, and sit some more. "Lord Of The Rings" and "King Kong" spread the stories out across lengthy canvases, and that’s true for this latest epic trilogy, "The Hobbit." And if you’re eager to see what didn’t make the theatrical cut of "The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug," you might want to set aside a half hour.
While this is likely to be yanked by Warner Bros. shortly, someone has put together twenty-minutes-worth of the extended scenes from ‘Smaug’ and thrown them online. And this is largely a "fans only" affair, with lots of extra moments, though nothing the casual watcher would likely be compelled to track down. But credit to Jackson — while he could use an editor from time to time, no one puts together whole cinematic worlds quite like he does.
Check out the extended ‘Smaug’ below along with a few featurettes. The extended version of the movie is now available digitally and on home video starting November 4th. [Comic Book Movie]
