Watch: 3 Minute 'The Avengers' Deleted Scenes Features Moody Captain America, Stan Lee Cameo & More

nullWill over 30 minutes of deleted scenes on "The Avengers" upcoming home video release, at this rate it's all going to be online so you won't have to buy the damn thing (well, unless you want to watch the movie again, which you probably do). So far we've seen more Bruce Banner, Harry Dean Stanton, Loki, Hawkeye and a gag reel but it seems Joss Whedon's longer assembly cut of the movie was a decidedly more dour affair. After the rather grim alternate opening arrived yesterday, a lengthy 3 minute deleted scene has arrived and it's another mood killer.

As Whedon himself noted in the spring, a longer sequence highlight Captain America/Steve Rogers being unable to adapt to this new modern world would be featured, as this appears to be it. Moodily sitting in his drab apartment, he decides to go for a walk where he passes an Acura dealership (PRODUCT PLACEMENT!) before settling in for a cup of coffee with a….sketch pad? Anyway, he gazes up at Stark Towers (unrendered), is interuppted by Stan Lee (CAMEO!) and makes a "wireless" joke. This clip is actually fine, but it's easy to see why it was snipped out — tonally, it's just out of sorts with the rest of the movie, and puts a lot of undue focus on one character who is part of an ensemble. It's a bit out of balance. What do you think?
