One of the most memorable big screen sequences of the year doesn’t feature much in the way of explosions or flashy action scenes. Instead, it features extensive CGI, utilized to create a cinematic prison break for the ages, and now you can see how it was all put together, frame by frame.
This impeccably made (and wordless) featurette, created by Australian visual effects house Rising Sun pictures, gives a nice breakdown of the making of the Quicksilver setpiece in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” It covers the film’s most show-stopping action sequence in which Quicksilver (Evan Peters) practically makes time stand still in a Pentagon kitchen and evades security. He is also able to change the course of bullets heading toward Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender).
The slow motion sequence uses a mix of live action and computer generated effects, and the video uses split screens to illustrate how the scene was put together in both stages (the live actors in the studio and the animation programs). Anyone interested in special effects should give it a watch. And Jim Croce‘s "Time In A Bottle" is definitely a nice touch. [Comic Book Movie]
