An R-rated sci-fi movie that was initially pitched as a comedy (though the trailers show that might not be the case), featuring South African hip hop duo Die Antwoord, "Slumdog Millionaire" nerd Dev Patel, "Alien" survivor Sigourney Weaver and "The Wolverine" himself Hugh Jackman? Certainly, whatever Neill Blomkamp is cooking up, it’s going to be distinctly his own. And today a few more peeks have arrived for the film.
A few TV spots continue the buzz for the flick about the titular piece of artificial intelligence who becomes embroiled in political battle with the fate of humanity getting tossed into the mix. Thematically, it looks like Blomkamp’s film will wrestle with the notion of what happens when machines replicate the intelligence and instincts of humans. But never fear, there will also be explosions.
