Watch: 30-Minute Documentary On 'Forrest Gump' As Film Gets IMAX Re-Release This Fall

Forrest Gump

Nominated for 13 Oscars, and winning 6 (including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay), and earning over $670 million worldwide, it’s been twenty years since Tom Hanks stepped through American history in “Forrest Gump,” and warmed the hearts of moviegoers everywhere. And while a certain backlash has developed against the movie, for this writer’s worth, it’s still a premium slice of cheese that often’s really well acted, and even at its most overwrought, always has its heart in the right place. And now you can experience it all over again on the big screen.

Paramount is set to re-release “Forrest Gump” in IMAX on September 5th. It’s not clear why the movie is being shown on the large format screens, but we can only guess the extra surcharge is a reason the studio is going that route. At any rate, it’s a chance to see the movie on a (really) big screen, and hell, IMDB users currently think it’s the 14th best movie ever made, and they can’t be wrong… right?

So, in preparation, here’s a 30-minute documentary, “Through the Eyes of Forrest Gump,” about the making of the movie, the characters and more, with participation from the cast, director and many more. Check it out below.
