Can Tim Burton work his way into the Oscar race? That’s the question surrounding "Big Eyes," which has been seen by critics, but with reviews still embargoed. But perhaps you don’t have to look much further than the plethora of critics awards and top ten lists emerging that distinctly don’t feature any mention of Burton’s film. Hmm. But there’s still a movie to promote and you never know how consensus will swing.
This past weekend, the director, along with star Christoph Waltz, hit London’s Mayfair Hotel for an extensive, nearly 40-minute long chat about the movie. Waltz candidly shared his initial reservations about taking on the film, and the value in the story, while Burton discussed how the project came his way, and artist Margaret Keane‘s involvement. After all, it tells her wild story of being at the center of what was one of the biggest art scams in history.
"Big Eyes" opens on Christmas Day. Watch below and check out a batch of new images.
