Watch: 4 1/2 Minute Trailer For 'The Walking Dead' Season 4, David Goyer Directing An Episode

nullIf you had said a few years ago that one of the biggest ratings behemoths on cable would be a series about zombies based on a comic book, people would have said you were crazy. But defying the odds, creative shakeups and some dips in quality, “The Walking Dead” has lurched into being one of the biggest things on TV. It’s certainly a jewel in the AMC crown. The fourth season is looming and, as a treat to those in San Diego—or for those of us sitting comfortably at home—the network has dropped a sprawling four-minute trailer for the new season.

Among the new faces you’ll see this year (a whole bunch of folks got killed off in season 3) is Bob Stookey, played by Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (aka D’Angelo Barksdale from “The Wire“), and he should prove to be an enigmatic new addition to the show. “His backstory is not entirely the same as in the comic and the novel,” showrunner Scott M. Gimple told EW. “I think he’s seen things go bad over and over, and winding up in this stable place doesn’t shake him from his experience. He struggles with that.”

Also, something fans can look forward to next season? An episode directed by “The Dark Knight” and “Man Of Steel” writer David S. Goyer (though it’s not yet confirmed if he wrote it as well). But enough from us, check out the new spot below. “The Walking Dead” lurches back on screen on October 13th at 9 p.m. [STYD/Bleeding Cool]
