Joe” and “Transformers” cartoons — a joint effort by Hasbro, Marvel Productions, and Sunbow Productions. But all you need to do is remember “Josie And The Pussycats” or “The Runaways” to know that girl band movies have often suffered at the box office. But Universal and director Jon M. Chu are hoping to tap into the millennial generation for their modern update of “Jem And The Holograms,” and hell, wouldn’t it be nice for teenage girls to have a movie for themselves that’s not a weepy romance or a horror film?
