Both seasons of FX’s television program and the movie took place in the upper Midwest of the United States, but what are the other similarities other than the Coens’ executive producer credit?
In his new mashup, Arnau Orengo spliced together shots from both seasons of the series and the film so the viewer can have a better look at the easter eggs —everything from static televisions, money buried in mounds of snow, and of course, hacked, bloody body parts. The video jumps off with the uncanny parallels between Peter Stormare’s turn as the unapologetic Gaear Grimsrud and Billy Bob Thornton’s stoic, vicious Lorne Malvo.
Of course, the character likenesses are abound, with Martin Freeman stepping into the William H. Macy shoes and even some key sequences from the movie, redone in the series. Despite the Coen’s lackluster applause for the show, we are big fans and can’t wait to see what blood-stained hijinks Noah Hawley has up his sleeve for Season 3.
