In “Ender’s Game,” Asa Butterfield plays Ender, a bright young boy who’s been handpicked by Colonel Graff (played by Harrison Ford) to save the entire world and human race. No pressure. Colonel Graff is dead set on the boy, much to the hesitation of his colleagues, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley) and Major Gwen Anderson (Viola Davis), both of whom believe that the boy is not ready. Are they right or can Ender step up and save the world? You will have to wait and find out a few weeks from now… unless you’ve read the book. If you’ve read the book, there probably won’t be any surprises here. But hey, Harrison Ford is in it! Plus, the kid from “Hugo”! Also, Ben Kingsley has a giant tattoo on his face! If that still does not pique your interest, perhaps these seven different clips from the film will help.
The film adaptation had been over fifteen years in the making until South African writer/director Gavin Hood (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) stepped in and finally got the ball rolling, with screenwriters David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (“Game of Thrones”) tackling the adaptation of the Orson Scott Card book. With a $110 million budget, it will be interesting to see if “Ender’s Game” can capture the same size audience as “The Hunger Games.” Surely, Lionsgate is hoping so. However, considering “The Hunger Games” sequel comes out just a few weeks later, and has a lot more buzz, it will be a tough battle. Hopefully, Ender is ready. “Ender’s Game” comes out in theaters on November 1st, until then, be sure to check out the clips below along with a couple of colorful Mondo posters.
