Watch: A Genetically Engineered Hitman Is Out To Kill In New ‘Hitman: Agent 47’ Trailer

Hitman Agent 47If at first you don’t succeed, try try again. Hollywood sure loves that maxim. “Hitman” featuring “Justified” star Timothy Olymphant didn’t work? No mind, just start over. That’s 20th Century Fox’s approach and they’ve restarted their would-be franchise as “Hitman: Agent 47.”

The movie stars Rupert Friend, who’s done some really terrific work on “Homeland.” In “Agent 47” he is a genetically engineered hitman tasked with killing Katia (Hannah Ware), the daughter of the head of a mega corporation. Why would he do that? Because the company is building an army of assassins even deadlier than he is.

It sounds not unlike “The Terminator” given that the Agent eventually teams up with Katia. “He’s not prepared for the human emotion,” Aleksander Bach, who’s making his directorial debut with this adaptation of the Hitman videogame told EW. “When you’re a cold assassin, how much humanity is still there?” Here’s the official synopsis.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research and forty-six earlier Agent clones–endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.
