Watch: Amazing First Trailer For Yorgos Lanthimos' 'The Lobster' With Colin Farrell & Rachel Weisz

The LobsterAfter wowing international audiences with "Dogtooth" and "Alps," Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos made his English-language debut at Cannes this year with "The Lobster," and the result was our runaway favorite film of the festival. Set in a strange world where single people are sent to a hotel where, if they fail to find a partner within 45 days, they’re turned into an animal of their choosing, the film’s a mix of Bunuel and Charlie Kaufman, a "surprisingly moving, gloriously weird love story" that’s also one of the funniest films of the year.

And now you can get your first proper look at it, as The Guardian have just premiered the first full trailer for the film. Showcasing the excellent cast (Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Ben Whishaw, John C. Reilly, Olivia Colman, Lea Seydoux, Ariana Labed, Aggeliki Papoulia, Jessica Barden, Ashley Jensen and Michael Smiley) and Lanthimos’ skewed sense of humor and impeccable eye for an image, it’s pretty representative of the movie, and as such, is pretty great.

"The Lobster" is about to head to TIFF, the NYFF and the LFF before opening in UK cinemas on October 16th — there’s no firm word on a U.S. release date yet. Watch the trailer below.
