The success of director Gareth Evans action-heavy thriller “The Raid: Redemption” has been kind to both the filmmaker and his aspirations of completing a proposed trilogy of films. And though Evans will be “Breaking The Bank” with Universal and kicking up dust all over again with “The Raid” sequel “Berandal,” he probably didn’t expect to see a claymation recreation of his film featuring cats.
We all know that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” and if that’s really the case, Evans should be pretty flattered by Claycats homage to his ultraviolent flick. Starting off much in the way his own film does, the innovatively crafted short employs the Claycats into many of the film’s key action set pieces, from the stairwell shootouts to the drug lab gunfight. For those who haven’t yet caught up with Evans’ action opus, there’s not really many spoilers, unless you’re worried about seeing a few fight scenes played out with cats.
While we wait for “Berandal” and “Breaking the Bank” to roll, why not enjoy a little Claycats action? In fact, their entire resume is worth checking out, which includes claymation recreations of “Twilight” and most notably “The Thing.” Wach below. [via Empire]
