Based on the fictional character Agent 47 from the “Hitman” video game series, there already was a “Hitman” film in 2007 starring Timothy Olyphant (“Justified”). But grossing only $39 million domestically, 20th Century Fox decided to
take another kick at the can to reboot their own series and start over again. Now titled “Hitman: Agent 47” the film stars Rupert Friend, Zachary Quinto, Hannah Ware and Thomas Kretschmann, which isn’t exactly a super-upgrade
from the last film, but what were you expecting, really?
The plot is pretty simple: An assassin teams up with a woman to help her find her father and uncover the mysteries of her ancestry. The film is directed by Aleksander Bach, who as far as we can tell, has zero other credits on IMDB. Nice work if you can get it. The movie was
promoted at the 2014 Comic-Con in San Diego and at one point had a March 2015 release date, at least in the U.K., but now it’s not
arriving until August 28. Which means Fox could take it to SDCC once again if they wanted to. Is this your thing?
