Watch: Atmospheric Teaser Trailer For Ghost Story 'The Woman In Black' With Daniel Radcliffe

Film Lands In U.K. Theaters February 10th, 2012

With “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” getting over closer, the first fruits of Daniel Radcliffe‘s post-Potter career are starting to emerge. The 21-year-old actor has picked up respectable reviews on Broadway for his starring role in the musical “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying,” and he’s lining up the indie comedy “The Amateur Photographer,” among other potential roles. But his first major starring role is in “The Woman In Black,Hammer Film‘s take on the classic ghost story by Susan Hill, and shortly after its debut at the Kapow! comic-con in London over the weekend, the first brief teaser trailer for the film arrived on line, courtesy of IGN.

The plot involves a young lawyer (Radcliffe), who arrives in a small town on the east coast of England to settle the affairs of a recently-deceased old woman, only to discover a series of strange occurrences, including those involving the titular lady. The trailer is principally selling Radcliffe’s name, and an eerie atmosphere above anything else, but there’s a neat jump scare in there and the photography, by Guy Ritchie veteran Tim Maurice-Jones is strong.

We’re still quite a way off seeing this yet — U.K. distributors Momentum announced that, despite the picture wrapping at the end of last year, and an expected completion date in the summer, they won’t be releasing it there until February 10, 2012 — presumably the delay comes from Radcliffe’s Broadway and filming commitments, as the film will likely rely on him hitting the promotional circuit for its success (a U.S. release will likely be soon afterwards). Still, with “X-Men: First Class” scribe Jane Goldman writing, and James Watkins, director of the underrated Michael Fassbender horror flick “Eden Lake” at the helm, we’re quietly looking forward to this, and the trailer hasn’t done anything to change that yet. Watch it below.
