Geez Hollywood, give our tear ducts a break won’t you? This weekend finds Shailene Woodley in love and battling cancer with “The Fault In Our Stars,” and later this summer, teenagers, love and death will collide again in “If I Stay.” Now might be a good time to hit Costco and stock up on Kleenex.
R.J. Cutler (“The September Issue“) directs this one, which stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Jamie Blackley, Mireille Enos, Joshua Leonard, Liana Liberato, Aisha Hinds, and Stacy Keach in the adaptation of Gayle Forman‘s novel. The story? Well, after being caught in a tragic car accident and hanging somewhere between life and death, Mia must decide if she’ll go to the white light or keep on living. Where’s Beetlejuice when you need him? Here’s the official synopsis:
Mia Hall thought the hardest decision she would ever face would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at Juilliard or follow a different path to be with the love of her life, Adam. But what should have been a carefree family drive changes everything in an instant, and now her own life hangs in the balance. Caught between life and death for one revealing day, Mia has only one decision left, which will not only decide her future but her ultimate fate. “If I Stay” is based on the best-selling novel of the same name.
“If I Stay” opens on August 22nd. Check out the prologue trailer below powered by the now omnipresent “Outro” by M83.
