It’s always hard to know what to watch on a sleepy Saturday (if you’re not at TIFF, anyway: catch up on our coverage here). Rent a recent movie that you missed in theaters? Track down a classic you’ve never seen? Or fit in a couple of episodes of whatever you’re binging at the minute? Well, today, at least, we might have solved your problems, because of course you want to watch half-an-hours worth of a conversation between Christopher Nolan and the cast and crew of “Heat.”

As we reported a few days ago, the “Dark Knight” helmer moderated a discussion in L.A. this week after a screening of a new 4K restoration of Michael Mann’s crime classic (which Fox will release on home video next year). Present were not just Mann, but also Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer and various supporting cast members and key crew.
Amazingly, the Academy have put about half an hour of clips online from the Q&A (which presumably makes up basically the whole thing), from the two leads discussing the iconic coffee shop sequence, to great DP Dante Spinotti talking about the look of the film. It’s kind of a joy: watch all the clips below, and starting counting the days to the re-release of “Heat” in 2017.
