With “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” premiering on ABC this fall, Marvel continues its world domination but the television series isn’t the first time the comics giant has experimented with its universe in a non-feature length setting. Since the Blu-ray release of “Thor,” the company has released a series of short films called “Marvel One-Shots” that take place within the existing Marvel cinematic universe. Up until now the shorts haven’t had much bearing on the continuity at large but that all changes with the newest “one-shot” that’s arriving this fall.
Set to be included in the “Iron Man 3” Blu-ray release in September, “Agent Carter” is centered around Peggy Carter with Hayley Atwell reprising her role from “Captain America: The First Avenger.” The short film takes place after the events of ‘Captain America’ and follows Carter as she’s on the trail of a mysterious entity known as “Zodiac” and a short action-packed clip has arrived online showing the beginning of her investigation. Is it too late to get a Peggy Carter spin-off?
In related comic-book news, another clip from the James Mangold-helmed Japan-set “The Wolverine” has arrived online. Part of HBO’s Advanced Notice, the clip is bookended by Mangold and Hugh Jackman talking up their “standalone” take on everyone’s favorite anti-hero and features Wolverine roughing up a sleazy Minister of Justice.
“The Wolverine” arrives in theaters this Friday and “Iron Man 3” hits store shelves September 24th. Check out both clips below. [IGN/ComingSoon]
