With all the high profile movies already jockeying for a position in the next six weeks or so, we have to admit, we sort of totally forgot about Summit's "The Darkest Hour." Maybe they have to? The film is about a month from release with nothing much in the way of promo, so this international trailer from Singapore, via /Film, will have to do for now.
This latest look at the film is a music only affair (maybe because dubbing isn't finished yet?) that's a sizzle reel of sorts, showing off some of the admittedly impressive special effects in the forthcoming alien invasion picture in which people explode in plumes of psychedic looking ashes. Or something. Starring Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Rachel Taylor, Joel Kinnaman and Greg Kinnear, and directed by Chris Gorak, the simple concept tells the story of a group of young Americans traveling in Moscow who survive an alien invasion that has targeted major cities worldwide and fight for their survival. It seems that not only have they come for our vast energy supply, they are invisible and will literally disintegrate anybody who gets in their way.
Yeah, the music is a bit much but the trailer does give a fresh look at the movie. Check it out below. "The Darkest Hour" opens on Christmas Day.
