Watch: Compelling Trailer For Book 'Stanley Kubrick & Me'

nullBelieve it or not, we actually do find time to read books here at The Playlist. Of course, given our interests, many of those books tend to be about movies and here's one we'd really like to get a hold of.

A trailer (yes, they do them for books as well) has arrived for "Stanley Kubrick & Me," which is yet another page-turner about the famous director, albeit one from a unique perspective. The story of the filmmaker is told through the eyes of Emilio D’Alessandro, a race car driver who moved to England in the 1960s to secure more steady work. He started as a minicab driver for the the British movie industry and a decade later, he was offered a job to be the exclusive man behind the wheel for none other than Stanley Kubrick himself. The rest, as they say, is history.

He spent his life with Kubrick and his family, and was able to see both the filmmaker's personal life and movie productions with unique access. The book promises to show a completely different side to the director, one removed from the common perception of his being an oddball recluse and obsessive. As someone who became entrusted by Kubrick in later years with more responsibility on his estate, there's no doubt he has a rare eye into the director's family and professional life.

Sounds great, right? Well, unfortunately the book doesn't seem to have an American publisher just yet (it's currently available only in an Italian edition). Here's hoping it makes its way over here soon. Until then, watch below.
