We need to talk about Walter. He’s the newest felt-covered creation and the co-lead of sorts in the forthcoming “The Muppets,” which continues its full on charm offensive.
A new clip from the movie, which is not a parody trailer, gives us a pretty good taste of the vibe of the film, which is clearly swinging for kids while being engaging and colorful enough for adults. At least that’s the case with what we’ve seen so far. In this scene, Gary (Jason Segel) surprises his best bud Walter with tickets to tour the Muppet Studios. Why they are sharing a bedroom is not explained, however. And as if the raft of cameos didn’t tip you off, the movie will take place in a showbiz setting and follow the Muppets as they try to save their studio from a greedy baron (Chris Cooper) who wants to dig for oil. Gary masterminds getting the Muppets together for one last show to save the studio, with Amy Adams as his girlfriend, and Rashida Jones as an ABC executive.
We don’t know what else to say, our eight-year-old selves are stoked. “The Muppets” hits theaters on November 23rd.
