This past weekend, "Transformers: Age Of Extinction" made a record-breaking $301 million global debut, proving that, once again, when it comes to summer movies, nothing beats expensive sound and fury. And it can be a bit disheartening for those looking to go to the movies to watch something that will challenge, disturb, provoke and intrigue. But David Cronenberg is here to help.
Commissioned by EYE Film Institute, "The Nest" is nine minutes of pure, freaky Cronenberg. Evelyne Brochu ("Inch’Allah," "Tom At The Farm") stars in the short that follows a woman meeting with an unconventional surgeon in what looks like Frankenstein’s low budget laboratory. We soon learn that she wants her left breast removed, but not for the reasons you might think — instead it’s because it has insect nest inside of it… Who needs a cup of coffee in the morning? Watch this instead, but not at the office, as it’s quite NSFW. [Indiewire]
