We’ll have to take his word for it, but according to David Spade, there are a significant amount of people who really like "Joe Dirt" over his other movies. This should be understood as a relative statement, since he’s best known for his cinematic works with the late Chris Farley. “I’ve always liked the movie a lot,” the actor told EW about why a sequel is happening. “But I also go by feedback from people I see or [what they write] on Twitter and Instagram. Besides ‘Tommy Boy,’ this is the most talked-about movie for me. After 10 years of people still asking about a sequel, we finally found a good way to do it…. Joe is a fun character to play. I’m stoked for everyone to see it.”
Okay, but are people actually stoked to see "Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser"? At any rate, the first trailer shows Spade back in his long wig and terrible accent being not very funny, but again, maybe that’s just me. This time around he’s landed some really random supporting roles from Christopher Walken, Brittany Daniel, Dennis Miller, Adam Beach and uh, Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath.
Fred Wolf, who directed the original, is back behind the camera and co-wrote the script with Spade. "Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser" will stream on Crackle this summer.
