Brad Bird‘s "Tomorrowland" certainly isn’t short on ambition. It’s a blockbuster that celebrates innovators and thinkers like Edison, Tesla and Einstein, and in an early draft, even featured a cameo of sorts by Stanley Kubrick. And that’s not all. It turns out Pixar crafted an animated sequence for the movie that was left on the cutting room floor, but thanks to the era of the internet, you can now view it online.
“It was pitched as a ride under a ride," the film’s co-visual effects supervisor Eddie Pasquarello told Business Insider about where the three-minute scene would’ve appeared. "When Frank drops below the ‘It’s A Small World’ ride instead of going right to the portal to Tomorrowland he would have taken this ride first, like a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ boat ride. Moving set pieces, mist curtains, it would have been literally riding a classic Disney ride and it would have told the backstory of Plus Ultra.”

So why was it pulled? Well, it just didn’t work in the flow of the film, and Bird thought it halted the momentum of the picture. And one could perhaps see why jumping to animated sequence in an already visually busy movie might do that. But you can see for yourself below. [via Movies.com]
