Ever since Sundance in January, you’ve heard us praise Lenny Abrahamson‘s "Frank" over and over and over again. And with the film’s U.S. release now on the horizon, you’ll have to bear with us a bit more, but believe us when we say this is one of 11 Films To See In August.
In case you didn’t know by now, "Frank" brings together the cast of Michael Fassbender, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Domhnall Gleeson, and Scoot McNairy, and tells the true story of a young keyboardist who manages to get recruited into an oddball band, with whom he tours around the country and records an album. And oh yeah, the frontman for the group wears a giant, paper maché head. It’s weird and wonderful stuff, inspiring our review scale dizzying heights: "this terrific and sublime experience, and strikingly original film, is mandatory watching for the adventurous viewer."
"Frank" opens on August 22nd. Check out two clips below.
