So, you’ve done your homework, and with a few weeks to go until the Oscars, you’ve managed to catch up with all nine Best Picture nominees. Nice work, but now what is there left to do? Well, have you seen all the shorts? Granted, they aren’t the easiest thing to track down, but the fine folks at Disney have done the heavy lifting for you and put “Paperman” online.
Nominated for Best Animated Short Film, the debut from director John Kahrs mixes computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques in the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City who meets a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Expecting never to see her again, he’s surprised when he spies her through the window, working in the office across the street. With nothing but a stack of paper at his disposal, he’s determined to get her attention.
Charming and certainly lovingly put together, the short unspooled during the fall in front of “Wreck-It Ralph.” But if you missed it and/or just want to see it again, watch below. [Collider]
