Watch: Douchebag Bros’ Sex Playhouse Backfires In First U.S. Trailer For Thriller ‘The Loft’ With Matthias Schoenaerts

The Loft, Universal PicturesTHE LOFT, originally scheduled for release on August 29, 2014, is now undated,” the studio wrote in June of this year. What did they do with the movie? Well, they sold it off to Open Road Films, and now, surprise, it’s coming out in a month. So that means, ALL the marketing materials are here now, including a trailer, a poster, and a motion poster. Yippee.

“Welcome to the Loft! It’s our own private oasis!” That means it’s basically douchebag headquarters. The film is about five married asshole friends who get their own penthouse so they can have all their covert affairs in one place without fuss or muss. But something goes awry, as one of their visitors is mysteriously killed and then it’s not “bros before hos” anymore. Uh oh. The psychological thriller stars Karl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller, Eric Stonestreet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Isabel Lucas, Rachael Taylor, and Rhona Mitra. Here’s the official synopsis:

Karl Urban (Star Trek Into Darkness) and James Marsden (2 Guns) star in the tense psychological thriller THE LOFT, the story of five married guys who conspire to secretly share a penthouse loft in the city–a place where they can carry out hidden affairs and indulge in their deepest fantasies. But the fantasy becomes a nightmare when they discover the dead body of an unknown woman in the loft, and they realize one of the group must be involved. Paranoia seizes them as everyone begins to suspect one another. Friendships are tested, loyalties are questioned and marriages crumble as the group is consumed by fear, suspicion and murder in this relentless thriller.

Directed by Eric Van Looy (remaking his own Belgian film) and written by Bart De Pauw (also part of the original team) and Wesley Strick, “The Loft” hits theaters on January 23, 2015.
