Ben Kingsley’s character Don Logan from “Sexy Beast” may hold court as the most terrifyingly volatile British gangster creation around, but, Jude Law looks to be making a play for the throne with his “Dom Hemingway.” Fresh out of jail and facing a changed world and criminal code, the freewheeling lout is forced to adjust or fade away, and we’ve got a string of new clips to highlight that journey.
Featuring Richard E. Grant (“Withnail and I”) as the straight man to Law’s manic performance, the Richard Shepard-directed film enjoyed a TIFF premiere before heading to U.K. theaters this past fall. Now as it heads stateside we’ve got a clip, featurette and new pics to fully immerse you in Dom’s world: just released from prison after taking the fall for his boss, searching for the reward money that he’s owed, and also contending with the daughter (Emilia Clarke) whom he barely knows.
We called the film at TIFF “frequently laugh-out-loud funny and impressively, wittily written,” while also noting that it attempts for more than just a hedonistic, post-“Trainspotting” romp. You can decide for yourself when the film hits theaters on April 4th, but first catch the promo material below.
