The music biopic is going hard in 2016, with Tom Hiddleston playing Hank Williams in "I Saw The Light," Don Cheadle channeling Miles Davis in "Miles Ahead," and Ethan Hawke taking the role of Chet Baker in "Born To Be Blue." And that latter jazz legend comes to life in the first trailer for the film.

Premiering at TIFF last fall, Robert Budreau‘s film earned some decent buzz, and in an interview with Billboard around that time, Hawke explained what made Baker so compelling. "…what’s beautiful about his music, which made it in a way easier as an actor, is he’s not a good singer. What he is is an emotional singer," he said. "There’s something emotionally true about how detached and lonely he feels, and it’s actable. If you’re playing Whitney Houston or something, you got to be able to sing. Chet Baker wasn’t a particularly good singer. A lot of people didn’t think he had a nice voice. But what’s cool about him is something so personal about it, so I liked that."
We called the picture "a good movie about a great artist" and you can see for yourself when it opens on March 25th. Check out the trailer below.
