Is Marvel blowing their load on "Guardians Of The Galaxy" too early? This evening, fans everywhere lined up to see 17 minutes of footage from the film in IMAX, and judging by the reactions on Twitter, it was spectacular stuff. Latino Review gushed, "If the question with this movie has always been: will people who liked ‘The Avengers‘ buy in? That’s no longer a question for me." But let’s face it. It was was the diehard fans who snapped up those IMAX tickets for the showing in 150 select theatres so it’s hard to know if the buzz from this far out will even have an impact on the general public next month. Well, the studio is doubling down.
For everyone else who couldn’t make it to the screening, a new extended trailer has dropped, this time powered by The Runaways "Cheery Bomb" from the film’s FM dial flavored soundtrack. And more and more, this one is looking like solid stuff, with James Gunn clearly having a firm hand on what is certainly a tricky comic book world to adapt. It looks fun and funny, and the constantly self-winking, "hey isn’t this weird!?!?!?!?" tone of the early trailers is taking a backseat.
So check it out below. "Guardians Of The Galaxy" opens on August 1st. Check out the trailer and new pics below, and this promo train is only going to pick up more steam….
