"The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies" opens tomorrow in the U.K. (U.S. audiences have to wait until next week), so what better time for a final, epic trailer than…today? Uh, sure. By this point you either want to see how this overlong saga ends or you don’t, and the purpose of this promo is to remind you of how much time you’ve already put into the series. Might as well see this thing to the end then, right?
Culling footage from "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and "The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug," this lengthy spot sorta recaps the story thus far, and then tries to guilt you into seeing "The defining moment of the Middle Earth legend." Well, no, it isn’t. ‘Five Armies’ is mostly another reminder this whole series should’ve been one movie, or two at most, but if you want to see Thorin go bug-eyed over a mountain full of gold for about 90-minutes, then knock yourself out. And just remember, there’s an extended cut that’s 30-minutes longer waiting for home video.
So, are you buying a ticket or staying in this weekend? Watch the trailer and let us know below. [Flickering Myth]
