High on our must-see list at Cannes is Park Chan-Wook‘s "The Handmaiden." Starring Ha Jung-woo, Kim Min-hee, Jo Jin-woong and Kim Tae-ri, the filmmaker has reconfigured the novel by Sarah Waters and set the story during the Japanese rule of Korea, with the plot revolving around a handmaid who employs the services of an heiress, con man and pickpocket.
Sorry, no subtitles, but you can still get a taste for what’s coming below. Amazon Studios will release the film in the U.S., but no date has been set. [Cine Maldito]
