Shane Black‘s Christmas crime tale "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" has become something of a cult classic in the decade since its release, and for fans of that movie, they will be very excited to hear how he talks about his upcoming, "The Nice Guys." Describing it to People as a "half whimsical private-eye movie" and "spiritual sequel" to his Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer starring flick, the movie pairs up Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe for what sounds like a hoot. And the first trailer has arrived.

Set in 1970s L.A., the story follows muscle for hire, Jackson Healy, and struggling private eye, Holland March, whose paths cross when a porn star commits suicide. The girl’s aunt to come to them believing she’s still alive, which eventually turns into a conspiracy involving air pollution and the automobile industry.
"It is an R-rated film and it’s a caper," Black said. "It’s a little fast, a little funny and a little rough in places, kind of coarse. These guys are working-class dudes, they’re not really sophisticated private detectives, so it’s a chance to do the kind of thriller I don’t see too much of anymore." Sounds potentially like a lot of fun.
Co-starring Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, and Kim Basinger, "The Nice Guys" opens on May 20, 2016.
